I like this app a lot. It has a nice clean look, and the syncing between iOS and OS X devices is really convenient.

iOS 版 Byword と連携して使っています。Mountain Lion 以降，連携がまあまあやりやすくなりました。また，Markdown で書いたものを HTML としてコピーできる機能が便利です。

Macbook Pro Retina 15インチを使っています。 別のテキストエディタからコピペすると、文字化けの直後にクラッシュします。 iPhoneアプリの方は魅力的な仕上がりになっており、これとiCloud連携させることでとてもよいテキスト編集環境がつくれると思います。 ただし、現在はクラッシュのためMacで使えておりません。

These days I am just writing. Nothing fancy. I love the simplicity of the appearance. I love the faded out text of the paragraph that I’m not writing on. It helps me to concentrate. I’m anxious to learn more about how to use ByWord.

Byword has just enough options to be flexible enough, but also few enough to not be overwhelming. Also I like the simple styles used for text formatting. Very good readability.

The reason why I have decided to buy this is Evernote publishing. But the function does not measure up to my expectation. Surely it can post the text to Evernote but table and fenced code blocks do not work appropriately maybe because of the difference between the HTML and ENML (evernote markup language). I hope the developers to improve compatibility.

I love the minimalistic design, but I wish could add images and videos to the pages :(

I’ve been using Byword for two years now and I think it’s the best markdown editor ever. It’s simple and intuitive, and you can easily export your text to various formats like html, rtf, etc. UI is minimalistic but very functional, I recommend this app to everyone who writes a lot of short or medium pieces, especially to people using markdown on everyday basis.

As in the title – an excellent app, lightweight, fast, totally worth buying!

An absolute must for anyone involved into creating and editing texts. This tiny app allows to concentrate on the subject without distractions. Id like to praise the app creators for excellent typography — its not frequent nowadays when anyone knows how to handle typefaces in the right way! For future releases please consider adding styles and exporting them. I wouldnt mind using even pre-defined styles, but its essential that it would be possible to export them so that they could be easily re-defined in a page layout software. The lack of styles leads to using bold+larger font size for headers, while it would be better to just use a style for this purpose. However its just my humble opinion. All in all, this app is great in its simplicity and functionality!

I tried other apps, but Byword really does it job for the money. It is easy to use, very stable and reliable. More formatting options like headers would be great, still the app is cool.

1) нет версии и версии под ipad 2) экспорт в word, rtf - не работают (создают пустые документы) 3) экспорт в html и pdf - все лепит в 1 строчку, переносы не ставит. 4) нет окна правки вёрстки, как на первом скрине! Это очень печально. Нет возможности введённый текст нормально перенести в нужное место. FOR DEVELOPERS: 1) please, create a ipad version with synchronize 2) export to word and rtf - not working (making a clear file) 3) export to html and pdf - not insert "enter" - making all text in one line! So, I cannot send my text to other programs (to website or word). Very bad!

First of all — excellent app, simple and convenient. If you are searching for a distraction-free text editing app — this is very close to being *the* choice. However, couple of typography-related things should be improved: 1) Baseline is determined incorrectly for several popular fonts, including Arno Pro, Garamond Premier Pro, Myriad Pro (and probably others). This results in misplaced (moved down) I-beam cursor and spellchecker red line. 2) No support for ligatures. This is very unfortunate — even Pages does have them, and it makes text typeset with modern typefaces look really polished.

в принципе годится, но - белая тема очень низко-контрастная, черная слишком чорная :) - подсветки синтаксиса как таковой почти нет (только заголовки) - отступы устроены не очень логично на мой вкус. в общем, мне не подошло (как и прочие редакторы markdown оно не умеет толком подсвечивать вложенные pre-formatted куски, что очень бы поспособствовало написанию документации с фрагментами кода). in english: - default white theme is too low-contrast for my linking, black one is too infernaly black :) - syntax highlighting is weak (mostly headers highligthing only) - auto-indentation is not always behaving consistently most wanted feature is pre highlighting (rendering in monospaced font), would be very userful for writing tech docs in markdown.

NICE APP! It pleasant a pleasant writing assistant.

I love the clean and elegant interface of this new text editor and, at the moment, the verdict is good if I consider this version the beginning of a journey on the rise. First, you cannot insert images into RTF, missing sorting and numbered list, the font available are few and in TXT format the links are not recognized as such. Other than that, I tried to replace the opening of text files, usually run by TextEdit, with Byword but the result is that at the file is attributed a generic icon and the opening remains a prerogative of the default editor. L’interfaccia pulita ed elegante di questo nuovo editor di testo mi piace da morire e, al momento, il giudizio complessivo è buono ma solo se considero questa versione l’inizio di un percorso in ascesa. Innanzitutto non si possono inserire immagini nel formato RTF, mancano sorting e numbered list, le font a disposizione sono poche e, nel formato TXT, i link non vengono riconosciuti come tali. Oltre a questo, ho provato a sostituire l’apertura dei file di testo, normalmente gestita da TextEdit, con Byword ma il risultato è che ai file viene attribuita l’icona generica e l’apertura rimane appannaggio dell’editor di default.

Byword is, in my opinion, simply the best app for editing Markdown files. I didn’t review the earlier version, but I am happy to do so now.

Byword is by far my favourite writing environment. I almost stopped using standard word processors for pure writing. I strongly prefer to write everything in markdown and then export it in the format I need for refinement/formatting. Byword is fast, reliable and very ergonomic.

A couple of features still missing to make it hands down _the_ markdown editor of choice: 1. Discrete theme options for both writing and preview modes; 2. Preference option to start with a new document, so that you launch it and start writing. I hate dialogue boxes; 3. Better system integration, so that when you quit it doesn’t present you with an annoying *save* window dialogue. Still hating dialogues; 4. Mail integration, so that I can quickly email the current document’s rendered contents.
